Wednesday June 9, 2010

Greetings from Colorado,

This morning Karin Stanforth drove me to meet with Daniel and Linda Hoffman near the airport. After lunch we said goodbye to Karin and headed west. We drove to the Red Rock Amphitheater where they were setting up for a Sting concert. It is a beautiful location that seats about 10,000 people.
Then we drove on to Evans Mountain which has the highest paved road in North America, 14,264 feet. We saw several marmots as we looked around and we climbed up to the top, it was a beautiful view but cold and it is harder to breath at over 14,000 feet.
We then drove on to Frisco, Colorado to spend the night.

Bristlecomb pines which are over 2000 years old high up near the timberline

On top of the world!!  Over 14,000 feet with a 360 view, the air is very thin up here.

When we got to the top a marmot was waiting for us!
